Christmas Day 2011: The Weary World Rejoices!

I thought this post deserved a special title and when I think of Christmas I am always reminded of his sacrifice.  One of my favorite songs of the season is Oh Holy Night!  It is so amazing and I thought those lyrics were a perfect fit for the title of this post.

After Oliver was tucked into bed, Jacob and I started to set up all of his goodies.  We had so much fun putting everything together and making sure it was just right for him in the morning.

We went OVERBOARD this year for sure, and although it was fun it is not what Christmas is all about.  We have decided that going forward we will drastically reduce the number of gifts we give to our child(ren).  We want them to grow up knowing what we are truly celebrating and not counting gifts.

 Oliver's nativity scene!

Lots of goodies...

His step stool (one of his favorites)

His bowling set and cleaning set (the cleaning set was a huge hit)

Battery operated Spider Man car!!  Oh yea!!

Oliver eating some blueberries and patiently waiting for our guests!
Christmas morning guests were: Gammy, Paw, Gran, Meagan and Cameron.

The very first thing he went to and unfortunately because of all the nasty weather we had to wait several days to ride it!! Not fun!

 Loving the broom

Ice cream set is quickly becoming a favorite!

No way!!! A spinning Thomas the Train toothbrush!!!
Totally a hit!!!

Opening more goodies...

Look at all that stuff!!

Oliver and Paw are ready for basketball!

Blurry but fun pics with Mommy...

 The SWEETEST boy I know!!
My heart is full!!

After all the gifts it was time for red and green pancakes and bacon and a yummy breakfast casserole.

Then we had to test out our step stool and toothbrush!!

Wow what a wonderful Christmas we had.  We truly are so blessed and have so very much to be thankful for.  Having Oliver to share the holidays with and make new traditions is one of the best things ever!!

 Merry Christmas from The Doyle's

Christmas Eve

Our tradition on Christmas Eve is to go to Jacob's grandparent's house for Christmas with his moms side of the family.  This year we had a yummy Mexican feast and discovered that Oliver likes guacamole.  When we got there Oliver had to show us his disco top toy, that spins, lights up and plays music.  He showed us over and over and over again!

Oliver seating like a big boy to eat his dinner.

Time for goodies!!  A new tradition that we started this year (with the help of an Elf) is Christmas pajamas.  On Christmas Eve, our Elf on special orders from Santa will deliver Christmas pajamas to us.  His pajamas were so precious!!

Oliver got a new sweater

 Woohoo! More Pjs

A cool blanket and monkey

and more Pjs!!  We love Pjs!

He didn't like the monkey hanging from his neck! Ha

 Beginning to get very sleepy!!

After a wonderful night with family it was time for bed!!

Merry Christmas Eve!!
