Oliver & Tommy Jack

It was a running joke with Jacob's family long before I even got pregnant that they wanted their grandson (should it be a boy) to be named Tommy Jack.  It all started when they saw some cute little country boy at a rodeo in Arkansas named Tommy Jack and they never let us forget the name! Ha

So when I got pregnant we knew right away how we wanted to tell them our wonderful news.  The day I found out I told Jacob to call the sign company and have a sign made to say Tommy Jack is on the way!  By that afternoon it was complete.

As you know we didn't name our son Tommy Jack.  Sometimes you just know when a name fits and when it doesn't and Oliver is 100% Oliver and I don't think he could have a more perfect name.  Anyways, Tommy Jack does still manage to come up once in a while and the other day while I was cleaning out the closet I found the banner and decided to show it to Oliver.

It was so awesome to be reminded of that day and all that we have been blessed with since then!! Precious memories and who knows maybe one day Gammy and Paw might get their wish...from someone!

And just for fun these are a couple of the pictures from the BIG reveal night!!

Halloween Wrap Up

I know it is long over due but here are the fun things Oliver was up to during Halloween 2011!!

First up was his 1st Fall Festival at "school".  Oliver was very excited to get to try out his Trick or Treat bag.

 So adorable!!

They had a bunch of different games set up outside for all the kids to play and collect goodies.  Oliver did very well with most of them and was really good at picking prizes and filling up his bag!

Getting a ghost stamp which was quickly wiped off because it was just a big white blob of paint!

 Bean Bag Toss

Oliver picked out the biggest toy they had!!

Time for bowling...

More fun games...

Oliver was so happy that his Gammy could come play too!

Trying to get a good picture with Mommy

Pin the tail on the cat!
He really liked that game.

Checking out all the goodies he got...

After they played all the games we went back into their classroom for a fun Halloween lunch.  I made the sandwiches for the class and used a pumpkin cookie cut to make them extra cute!

It was so much fun to visit him at "school"!  It wasn't fun when all the parents tried to leave.  This was the first time all the parents have come to visit them during the day and they are at the age where they don't understand why you would drop them off that morning and then come back just to visit and leave again!!! They think that when they see you they are going home.  So we left one by one and tried to not look back!  I am so glad that my job allows me to leave and participate in Oliver's "school" functions!!  I can't imagine having to miss those precious moments!!

Oliver's SPOOKtacular gifts for his sweet teachers!
Jars filled with yummy fall colored munchies.
(found on pinterest)

They also each got cute soaps from Bath and Body Works
(soap idea came from eighteen25 blog)

Cute tags I made for the bags

 Ready for delivery!!

We also got to go to our first Trunk or Treat at the Church where Jacob's Aunt attends.  Everyone lines up their cars and opens the trunk.  Their trunks are all decorated and the kids collect candy as they go by.  It is safe way for kids to enjoy Trick or Treating.    They also had a movie playing on a big screen outside and they had hotdogs to eat!

All the kids wore their costumes, but we let Oliver stay in his Halloween outfit.  He really enjoyed looking at all the decorated cars and watching all the kids run around.

We all had so much fun and hope to do it again next year!

Turtle Talk and the Ball Pit

This morning we were looking through Oliver's adorable artwork from "school" and praising Oliver for his artistic abilities.  I pulled out a turtle that he had glued paper to and said Oliver look at the turtle and then plain as day he said turtle!!!  Jacob and I looked at each other with our jaws on the floor...Did he just say turtle?!?!?  We looked back at him and I said can you say turtle and he said it again.  We couldn't believe it.  It was the cutest thing.

I talked to Jacob after he dropped him off at "school" and he said that he asked Ms. Gladys if they had been teaching him to say turtle.  She said that she knew he could say turtle and that he talks all the time; which he does at home too.  She said that he can say quite a few words and he picks up on things very quickly!  A genius in the making!! Ha!

This week Oliver got a new toy.  I picked him up early from "school" on Monday and we headed to Target to get a few things and a little something special.

Balls, balls and MORE balls!!

He didn't know what to think of the ball pit at first, but quickly learned how fun it is to dive into the balls and throw them everywhere!!  Not just throw the balls and dump the entire pit over so the balls go everywhere!! Ha...such a B-O-Y!!

Now, there is just one problem that I saw coming just not on day TWO!! We have a hole in the "pit"!!

I am pretty sure that a cat is to blame.  Now we just have to locate the hole and patch it up, but until then we just keep blowing it back up and watch Oliver have a blast!
