Ollie Lately

Today Ollie is 15 months old
He weighs 20lbs (finally!) and is 30 inches long
He wears most 6-12 month clothes but
nice smocked clothes he doesn't even fit into the 12 month sizes!!!
So many of his nice clothes he never gets to wear!
He is still a very good eater
He likes to brush his teeth
(we try to make everything as fun as we can so he will be interested in doing it)

He is talking more and more everyday
When he wants to watch his Praise Baby DVD he walks up to the
DVD player and points to it and says baby
He is very cuddly when he first wakes up or when he watches the first few songs from "baby"
I so love those sweet moments!!

He has not used his Nuk Nuk to go to sleep since Friday!!
We are so EXCITED about this milestone...He never used his Nuk Nuk during the day..EVER...
he only used it when he would go to sleep and I was so afraid that he was becoming
attached so I just tried not using it at nap on Saturday and he cried for less than 5 minutes!!
Woohoo!!

Testing out his nap mat

 Oliver or Olivia???
Over the past week Oliver has been mistaken for a girl 3 times!!
One time was even by his teacher!!!!
(Scary...yes I know)
I don't know who these people are looking at but to me he is ALL boy!!

He love love loves to play with steering wheels and honk the horn
He has learned how to open the pantry door...Yikes!
He loves to throw trash away and still loves to flush the toilet
He has started to mimic everything we do...

Example:  I give the cats treats every morning and the other day
Ollie and I were playing in his toy room when got up and went to open the pantry door
and started talking away and making a kissing sound.  When I walked into the
kitchen he was pointing up at the cat treats and making the sound that I make
to get the cats to come!!! I couldn't believe it!!! Oh yes and when this happens
don't even think about not following through...I tried and he pitched a fit until we gave
the cats treats.  So now the cats have gone from getting treats once a day to 2 to 3 times a day!

Rocking the Halloween Pjs in August...Ha!

Oliver it amazes me everyday how smart you are.
Watching you grow into a little big boy is greatest joy in my life!
You are such a blessing!!

The BIG Day!

Well....today was the day!!  I couldn't believe it was actually here.  I was so nervous about how he would act when we walked into the classroom and what he would think when we walked out the door and left him with strangers. I got everything ready for him to take to "school" the night before.

Ollie's treats for his teachers, nap mat, and backpack

Jacob and I got up, got dressed, and got Ollie's breakfast ready.  When I went to get him out of bed he was already up and starting talking a mile a minute as soon as he saw me.  I sat on the couch and cuddled with him while he drank his milk....I was soaking up EVERY minute!!  He was so sweet.

While he was eating his breakfast he was being so adorable...

Oh how I LOVE that face!!!

Dressed and ready to go...

Family photo shoot before we left the house

On the way to school Ollie had to play with my phone...
it's amazing what he can do with that phone!

On the way to there my stomach was in knots and I told Jacob that maybe we could just turn around and take him back to his Gammy's!!  It was such an intense car ride filled with so much emotion, but we finally made it there.

We were the first ones to arrive in his class.  His sweet teacher greeted him but he wasn't too interested.  I walked over to find his cubby and sat him down and that was all it took!!  He spotted all those toys and was in Heaven!!

Checking everything out

Making himself at home!!

Not too long after we got there a little girl arrived and she was not too excited about anything.  As soon as her parents left she started screaming!!  The teacher was trying to hold her and make her happy, but I was worried that it was going to freak Ollie out.  I told him to go and give her a toy and he tried but was not successful...Ha!  I didn't want to leave with the little girl still screaming because the teacher was having to give her all the attention, but we decided that we should probably leave....I guess we couldn't stay forever!

One last pic with Mom...

I didn't want to leave with the little girl still screaming because the teacher was having to give her all the attention, but we decided that we should probably leave....I guess we couldn't stay forever!

We watched outside the room through the window.  Ollie was just standing there watching the teacher try to calm the little girl down, and finally after about 2 or 3 minutes she finally stopped crying.  We watched for a few more minutes with no major meltdowns from Ollie...or me, and then we left.
He is standing behind the teacher...in the middle of the shelf

I was off today so I went and picked him up after nap.  This week will be mostly half days for him so we can try to get him used to his new surroundings in small doses before we leave him there all day.  I watched him play for a few minutes through the window.  He was so cute gathering up stuffed animals and going to sit at the table.

When I walked in and he saw me he was super excited.  He ran over to me and gave me a big hug.  There were about 6 or 7 kids there and all 3 of the teachers.  The teacher said that he had a good 1st day and slept for about 2 hours.  I did notice that a couple of the kids had snotty noses....Oliver has never been sick and never had a snotty nose!!!  I don't know if I am ready for that part!  I was so glad that he seemed to have a good day and I hope that he loves his new "school"!!

MOMMY AND DADDY ARE SO VERY PROUD OF YOU!!
YOU ARE GOING UP SO FAST!!
WE LOVE YOU!!

Gammy Love

I was very lucky that Jacob's mom was willing to watch Oliver when I went back to work.  She has watched him everyday since he was 8 weeks old.  Jacob and I always knew that we would want him to go to "school" eventually to develop social skills and grow his little mind.

He had been on the waiting list for a child development center since I was about 3 months pregnant.  He had to be a year and walking to be able to enroll when the time came.  We got the call in late April that they would have spot available at the start of their new school year!  We were so excited!  So with that news came 2 things: 1 our little Ollie had to be walking completely on his own by August 29th and 2 we had to break the news to Gammy!!

Gammy was not as excited as we were about the new "school" and I think from that day on she absolutely cherished every single minute she had with Ollie!!

We are so thankful for EVERYTHING that Gammy has done for our precious Ollie and most of all for all the LOVE that she has given him.  They have such a strong bond that I know will last forever and no "school" will ever change that!!

A Birthday Party

A couple of weeks ago Oliver got an invite to a big boy birthday party for Braeden.  The theme was sports and the party was at Kid City.

All of Oliver's sports themed clothes no longer fit him so we headed to Tiger Town for a new outfit.  Jacob liked the LSU polo outfit he had last year so we were able to find some cute ones for the new season.

We got to the birthday party a little late because we had some surprise visitors stop by.  When we arrived the birthday party was underway and kids had taken over the arcade room.  It was a little intense and I am sure Oliver thought he was going to be run over but he was excited about getting to people watch.  He just stood in the room watching everyone...too cute!

While the kids were busy playing all the games we let Oliver wonder around in the big hallway where he didn't have to worry about being run over.

After the kids had cake and ice cream they moved to the big jungle gym and Oliver got and chance to show off his skills in the arcade...

Go Ollie Go!!

As we were leaving Ollie became mesmerized by the statue of children by the door.
He wanted the boys hat really bad! Ha!
