Ollie's 6 month checkup

Today was Oliver's six month checkup....time is flying by.  By six months "they" say he should be rolling from front to back and back to front and of course have tummy time down pat.  I was prepared for Dr. Haynes to scold me about Oliver's lack of tummy time and the nonexistence of his rolling anywhere!!  He has finally doubled his weight; he weighed 14lbs 9ozs which is still in the 10th percentile for weight.  No sumo wrestling for Ollie...lol!  When Dr. Haynes came into the room to check him out she of course asked about his cradle cap, which still comes and goes, and right now of course is back!  She informed me what I already knew but hate to admit and that is that my precious Oliver has his daddy's sensitive skin.....ICK!!  Why oh why couldn't he have gotten my skin!!!!  She then put him on his belly to see him in action and of course he actually does well for her...PUH!!  He automatically went to turn over and stopped half way.  Dr. Haynes did everything she could to make him roll completely over but he had no interest.  She helped him roll over and said that there was absolutely nothing to be concerned about.  He has great arm strength and can pull up and walks up your chest while holding your hand.  He can do it he just doesn't want to yet.  She also gave us the name of the peds surgeon that we need to go see regarding his growth on his belly button.  Dr. Haynes believes that it is just superficial and can easily be removed.  She said that once he has finished trying all of the stage 1 foods that he can go to stage 2!! Yippee!  Next was the dreaded shots!!!!!!!!!  I thought he only had to have 2 but NOOO  he got 3!!!  He was not happy at all!!  The good news is that he will get a break from shots at his 9 month checkup!!

The countdown has begun

AHHHH...The countdown to Christmas is here!!  That means time for tradition #1....time to jam out to the great Mariah Carey Christmas CD every time I get into the Tahoe  (btw Jacob is not to fond of this tradition)!!

After Church we went home to take down the Fall decorations and get all the Christmas decorations out of the attic.  Oliver helped out before he took his afternoon nap...

Next up is Christmas Tree picking time.  We invited Jacob's parents over tonight to have some dinner and get Ollie's first tree!!  I made a huge pot of yummy taco soup (opps i forgot to take a pic) and Jacob's parents brought a Strawn's Strawberry Pie YUMO!! We went to the tree farm aka Lowe's to pick out a beautiful tree and then hurried home to eat eat eat!!  We are hoping and praying that Oliver is NOT allergic to the tree!!!!  Oliver was ready for bath and bed so we will wait until tomorrow night to decorate the tree!  CAN'T WAIT!!

Ollie's 1st Thanksgiving!

We have so very very much to be thankful for this year!!  Number one of course being Oliver.  I can't believe he celebrated his 1st Thanksgiving.  What a blessing it is to have such a wonderful and sweet boy in our lives.  We are so thankful for Ollie's Grammy who takes care of him during the day and all of the grandparents, great-grandparents, Auntie M's, friends and everyone else who loves our Ollie.  We are SO THANKFUL to have such wonderful people in our lives!!

As you know we headed to Dallas this year for Thanksgiving!!  WHO DAT!!  Jacob and I opted not to go to the game; we just couldn't miss one second of Oliver's 1st Thanksgiving.  We had so much fun spending time with all of the Doyle's.  He loved getting so much attention from everyone.  We brought so many of his toys and chairs for him and I don't think we ever used any of it.  Oliver was so good in the car ride there and back.
We didn't leave Dallas until after the game ....DUH... so we didn't get home until 10:30pm and we were exhausted!  I don't think Oliver even woke up when we took him out of his car seat and into bed.

THE CROWS CAME TO VISIT!!!!

We were super excited to get to spend a few hours with our long lost friends on Friday.  The Crows came over around Noon and we went to have some lunch and then came back to the house to hang out before they went to see Mandy's family.  We put the "little" boys down for a nap and sent the "big" boys off for guy time.  Kelly came over and we chatted away.  It was so nice to see them again and we hope to make a trip to see them before Christmas!

We are truly blessed and had an amazing Thanksgiving!!

A New Look!

Hooray for the new blog!!  Doesn't it look FABULOUS?!?!  Big thanks again to Lara at Designer Blogs for making our blog look amazing!

I can't believe that this week is Thanksgiving!  On Thursday we are headed to Dallas for the day for some Doyle family time and then back to Shreveport to see the Crows.  I can't wait to put Ollie in his Turkey outfit mostly because I actually think it might fit him!!  I can't believe he is almost SIX months!!  Where does the time go??

Since we are going to Dallas for Thanksgiving we decided to have an dinner with Tutu and Uncle D this past Saturday.  It was soo yummy.  We had crab legs, corn on the cob and salad...oh and a "little" wine!  We enjoyed getting to spend some quality time with two of our favorite people on the planet!  WE LOVE YALL!!

Oliver is starting to want to play in the bathtub.  It is so adorable how he kicks and splashes while grinning from ear to ear until the camera comes out...

I promise he really loves bath time!!

Veggie Tales

My sweet little Oliver is growing up so fast and is developing quite the personality.  The way he chuckles at everything I do just makes my heart melt.  He has been enjoying getting to know the zoo that lives in our house.  He absolutely loves Mr. Piddles and strangely enough Mr. Piddles lets Oliver do just about anything to him. As for Tiramisu well she makes sure to keep her distance.  Now every time I say to Oliver get that kit kat he starts grinning and looking around for Piddles.  Kingston of course wants to constantly lick Oliver to death and Boudreaux is kind of timid around him still.  It is so cute to see him interacting with the animals.  Oliver still has no interest in tummy time or crawling, and "they" say he is supposed to be rolling over by now...ha yeah right!  One day though...I hope!!

Oliver reinventing his Halloween costume!

So on to the BIG EVENT!!  Our little Oliver is eating food!!  Yep after everyone telling me that I was depriving him of the food I finally caved. One of the main reasons for waiting as long as I did was being nervous of any allergies since Jacob's family is one big allergy!!  So off to the store I went and picked out carrots for the first food.  That was what I craved while I was pregnant with him so I was curious to see if he would like them.  We got everything ready.  Jacob was armed with the video camera and digital camera and I with a spoonful of carrots.  We were ready to capture that cute funny little face!  Well we didn't get any funny faces.  He ate every bit of it with a big smile and mmm-ed for more.  I guess he was ready!!  After five days of carrots we graduated to green beans and again he scarfed them down with no funny faces.  We are on day three of green beans and thinking we might try squash next.  I hope he continues to be a good eater!

Yum Yum carrots!

I can't believe that the holidays are just around the corner.  I think life goes by faster after you have a baby.  We are trying to enjoy every minute of it!!  It is going to be so much fun getting to share the holidays with our sweet little boy!

The Dreaded Master Bedroom

I know this is mainly a blog all about Oliver, but I know some of you are curious about a little makeover in the Doyle house so I decided to share (don't worry I will post some pics of Ollie at the end).  I decided to start a new project or should I say a very very long overdue project!!  Why now???  Since day one of moving into this house we have worked on every room of the house except our bedroom. Our bedroom was the most hideous room in the house....truly awful.  It was the only room with white walls...a mixed group of blah furniture....not so cute bedding...etc...

Well during our fabulous Halloween party Brittany was getting the tour of the house when we reached the end of the hallway to a closed door and Jacob and I quickly said oh that is our bedroom and bathroom....really ugly...you don't want to see it ...ok the end lets turn around!!!  Yes!! We dodged that one or so I thought until later that night when we were laying in bed staring at our room when I brought up our tour with Brittany.  I was so glad she didn't see our room and then Jacob said... SHE DID!!!.....WHAT?!?!? I was mortified!  He said that she was not feeling well due to so medicine she was taking and needed to go to the bathroom but someone was in the hall bathroom and so yes that meant that the only one left was the master bathroom (which by the way is condemned and we don't even use it!) through our awful room!!!

Okay Thats it!!! I knew something had to be done!!!  So this weekend we finally put PAINT on the walls!!!! Crazy I know...the Crows would be so proud!! Along with paint I bought new fancy bedding that I have had my eye on for a couple of weeks and even put up some curtains!!! Yes now some how our bedroom is the only room with curtains...hahaha!  There is still a lot to do but it is definitely a big improvement and now we don't have to shut our door when guests come over!! So a big THANK YOU to Brittany!!  I decided for now not to post any pictures since I got some of my ideas from some very creative bloggers and I haven't quite figured out how to give them credit for it yet.  I am still learning this whole blogging thing!

So now for a little update on Oliver!!  He is getting so big and is becoming quite the comedian.  He fake coughs when he wants to get your attention and then gives you the biggest grin when you look at him.  Not sure if we want him to continue fake coughing but sometimes we can't help by laugh.  He has started to talk all through church and play peek-a-boo with everyone behind us.  I try so hard not to laugh at him but it is hard to resist his sweet face!!  His six month pictures are coming up on December 4th and I cant wait!!! Christmas cards maybe a little late this year but they will be well worth the wait!

Here are some pics that hadn't got posted yet:
